What Do You Do? (Daily Encouragement Series)
“Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.” – Psalm 37:3
I found this quick teaching from our first pastor in St. Louis very helpful and simple. He asked (and answered) the question “What do you do when you are quarantined?” When your life has been interrupted? Actually, what you do doesn’t really change!
Trust in the LORD – When we are in a situation we can’t control, where routines have been disrupted, trust in the LORD and accept the outcome. We can’t control the outcome, so we trust in the one who is in control.
Do Good – What good can you do today? Tomorrow? How can I love those around me? Take time to think about and figure out what it is to “do good” to those around you.
Dwell – Be where you are (you can’t be anywhere else). Inhabit the space where you are. At home, with family – be there, dwell there, be present. Embrace where you are.
Cultivate Faithfulness – Use this time to cultivate, churn up, plant faithfulness. Has to do with who God is and what he promises, not necessarily how we feel about. Cultivate an inner faithfulness, confidence, and trust with God.
Trust in the LORD. Do good. Dwell where you are. Cultivate faithfulness.
Prayer: God help us to embrace who you are and do good where we are.
