Preparing for Worship_12/1/24

Join us Sunday as we kick of the Advent season with our series “Waiting and Watching”. Sunday we will be in Isaiah 40 (v/1-31) where God’s people are in exile, waiting for rescue and God encourages them with these words:

“Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that her warfare is ended” (Isaiah 40:1-2)

“Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:30-31).

The story of the scriptures remind us that we are a “waiting” people and Isaiah 40 reminds us that God brings comfort to strength to those who wait on Him & His ways.

The following weeks we will be in the gospel of Luke and see Mary, Elizabeth, and Simeon all “waiting” on the LORD who fulfills his promises.
