Preparing for Worship_3/23/25
If you ask someone what the church is, you are bound to get a lot of answers and opinions (both positive & negative). Join us Sunday as we look at Ephesians 2:19-22 and see what God’s word says the church IS. Paul gives us the the metaphors of a city, a family and a building to better understand what the church is and therefore is to be about.
Paul’s three church metaphors pick up various aspects of church as place, not just an idea but a feet-on-the-ground place of hospitality where we are welcomed as participants with Jesus, who is our peace: “household of God,” a place where God gathers his family together; “a holy temple in the Lord,” a place where we are set apart to worship God; and “a dwelling place for God,” a place where God makes himself known to us in our language and circumstances, in word and sacrament. – Eugene Peterson
