Trust (Daily Encouragement)

The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore. – Psalm 121:8

We have been looking at the steps in the journey of being a christian which starts with acknowledging “trouble” and “turning” from looking for help from the “hills” and trusting in ourselves. But it is not just turning from wrong things, it is turning to God, the creator of “the hills”. The Christian life is turning to God, knowing God, enjoying God, and trusting in the goodness and care of God. This brings joy, peace, rest, security, confidence and purpose. Psalm 121 reminds are that God is trusthworthy and promises to “keep us” (6 times) both now and forevermore (v/8).

God cares about our eternal life – “forevermore” doesn’t just mean until the end, it means “never ending”. Through the cross Jesus has secured eternal life with Him for all who trust in him. Our future, our destination, is kept by God.

God cares about our everyday life – the rest of Psalm 121 gives us a beautiful picture of how God will keep us through all the challenges of everyday life. Take some time to dwell on these promises and find comfort in them today and everyday:

He will not let your foot be moved;

he who keeps you will not slumber.

Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD is your keeper;

the LORD is your shade on your right hand.

The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.

The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life.

The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore. -Psalm 121:3-8

Which truth about God keeping you do you need to trust and believe today?
