Now there are a variety of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are a varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities , but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. – 1 Corinthians 12:4-7

12:6-8 -Right Understanding of your Gifts – Build Up

Speaking gifts – *prophecy; *teaching; *exhorting, encouragement, knowledge —>makes truth clear

Serving Gifts – *”practical service, *giving, *mercy; contribution, hospitality—>come along; meet needs

Leading Gifts – *wisdom, *administration, government —> provide structure/direction; clarity 

 

How do we discern or learn our own spiritual gifts? 

1.Self examination – v/3 “think of yourself with sober judgment”

2. Experience -v/6 –  “having gifts that differ…let us use it”  

3.Study the biblical lists v/7-8 – “having gifts that differ” …then list them

“For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me.” 1 Cor. 11:23-25
