Misguided Approach (39-40)

Scripture has no other goal than to know Christ. The Bible itself is not Life. But the Bible’s center and point is Life and is Life-giving: the Lord Jesus, Messiah. It is possible to be a serious Bible student and to miss the whole point. Jesus Messiah, Christ-centeredness is the point…This Christ, in turn, will point us out into the wide world, near neighbor, and multiple opportunities. But let us be sure we are getting our directions from Christ and not, say, from “biblical principles,” which can so easily be twisted in directions of our own predilections political, social, spiritual, and theological directions to which we would like to see the Bible pointing. – Frederich Bruner

Misguided Motivation  (41-44)

However, our longing for significance can easily twist into an insatiable craving for approval, recognition, and praise. If left unchecked, this craving will enslave us. – JR Vassar Glory Hunger

Misguided Hope (45-47)

John 1:17 “… for the law was given through Moses; grace & truth came through Jesus Christ.
